Ok, the spiraling part and that final part are easy enough: I can Dragon Boost through the first and just guard the second, while getting some cheap shots in in the final transition, but that first part. I spent hours trying to figure out how to dodge it. Easily the hardest phase, and I still can't do it 100% consistently! For the first part, I just Dragon Boost when she's on the ground, can get that to work about 95% of the time, and she won't transition to "Super" Merga. Afterwards, I just tried hit and run tactics until the phase was over. My strat was just to get one block of HP down with a well-placed Dragon Boost early in the fight, and then dodge the tornado attack. Her tornado and ground plant attacks are easy enough to dodge (even if the latter has somewhat wonky hitboxes), it's just the amount of flower petals in difficult patterns that usually get me. Remember when I said to strategize? This is the first phase I had to actually go to the Battlesphere rematch to learn how she worked. This is a phase where you have to actually begin to strategize. I just usually hide in the corner to shave off some HP, and use the clone attack and the aftermath of the vertical slash attack to get off a bit more. Why'd I rank it as the third hardest? Because it's really hard to get a consistent pattern on hitting her in general. The attacks in this phase are easy to dodge, she always sends out her blades in a consistent pattern (two ground slashes and an air slash) and her other attacks you can either stay away from/Dragon Boost cheese (the attack with 3 of her clones) or just Guard through (the "Slash that Nearly Killed Corazon" attack). The big swords don't have hitboxes until they extend, so keep that in mind. The final part of the phase is scary, but I usually beat it before she gets the chance to attack, since she's only at 1 block of HP. Her cannon portion of the phase is pretty much just a set-up for the final part, since I can just get easy hits in with the Dragon Boost. The knives, I usually just run from except for the last one, which I guard. Regardless, Dragon Boosts can easily shred her HP as well.ĭragon Boosts early in the fight can get her quickly to the second part of this phase. Plus, you can easily get half of her HP in this phase easily cut down with properly placed Dragon Boosts (I was using Lilac for the Rainbow S-Ranks, since she has the most I-frames of any character.)Īlso fairly easy, putting her higher because the attacks feel tougher to avoid. Very easy to deal with, the attacks are telegraphed to the point you can easily dodge them. Personally, I'd rank the phases like this: So basically I couldn't even get HIT once during any of the 6 phases, otherwise it was back to the beginning. After the update, the number of hiding spots increased to 7 while reduced the spotlight radius from 180 to 160 to alleviate the difficulty of this particular stage.I attempted to Rainbow S-Rank Merga. Before the update, this stage used to be harder by having 4 hiding spots. There is a glitch that occurs when the player is instantly killed by Syntax before the boss fight, in which the player can still move their character even after their body is destroyed. The way Syntax's eye spots the player is highly reminiscent of her presence in Thermal Base. The stage revisits a few gimmicks from previous stages such as the golden gates from Airship Sigwada, the skeleton bones from Ancestral Forge and the power transfer conduits from Lightning Tower. Luckily, there are certain spots the player can hide behind to avoid the gaze. If the meter fills completely, it will result in an instant kill from Syntax. The longer the player stays in Syntax's gaze, more eyes will appear will constantly tell the player to "GET OUT!". Over time, Syntax's eye, which is measured by a meter, will begin to manifest itself within the background, notifying the player of her presence with on-screen messages. The stage is filled with many enemies that are once again infected by Code Black. Weapon's Core takes place in a dark area with a background similar to the Refinery Room and an atmosphere that gives the player the feeling that they're being watched from the shadows. The Team makes their way to stop Syntax, and against overwhelming odds, an unexpected ally comes to their aid in a final battle that will decide the fate of Avalice once and for all. Shortly after Team Lilac defeats Merga and witnesses a message from Cordelia, Syntax reveals herself and uses Code Black Version 2 to hijack and fuse with the Weapon's Core, taking full control of Bakunawa and proceeding with the moon harvesting.
